Best Ways To Name Your Newborn Baby
Get Flash to see this player.
One of the most exciting things about bringing a newborn person into the world that you might not think about right away is that you get to name him or her. This is a duty that you should take very seriously, because a newborn baby name is something that is going to stay with your baby for his or her whole life. Be kind!
Remember first of all that a name is what defines a person. Try to pick names that you like but also that your child will be able to live with. Experimental names, or using unusual spellings are good ways to make sure no one else has your baby’s name, but remember that your newborn is going to have to live with the name you give them. If you spell it in a way that no one else does, he or she is going to have to continually correct people in the future.
Something else to keep in mind is the idea that a name can carry a lot of history. If you name a child something that has been passed down in your family, you are going to be giving them history along with giving them a name. However, make sure that you like the name. Using a relative’s name as a middle name is a good idea if you want to honor someone but you aren’t particularly fond of his or her first name.
There are some things that you might not have thought about that you should keep in mind. For instance, rhyming names or names that sound funny with your last name might cause your child a lot of torment if they are teased over their names. Be careful to give them names that aren’t easy to make fun of, and also be careful that your child’s initials aren’t going to spell something that might be embarrassing. These are all things that are important to make sure of, and they are often things that are overlooked.
All in all, the name that you give your newborn should be something that he or she can be proud of and carry with them for his or her entire lives. Be sure that the newborn baby name you are giving them is a good, strong, solid name that they can use to whatever needs they want to during their lives. Be ware of fad names, or names that might quickly go out of style. Be aware also that if you use a name that is popular, for whatever reason, your child might be lumped in with whatever connotations the name has. Choose wisely.
